Recycling Information

We are pleased to see the interest shown by residents in our recycling program. It is important that the rules and regulations for use of these containers are followed or the city can discontinue our service.

Recycling Rules and Regulations

  • All boxes must be broken down.
  • If the blue containers are full – keep your recycling in your unit until the bins are emptied and there is room. DO NOT place recycling on top of the container lid or on the ground around the containers.
  • The following items CAN NOT be placed in the blue containers:
  • Glass
  • Soiled napkins, paper towels, toilet paper
  • Clothing
  • Food and food wrappings
  • Yard and pet waste
  • Beverage cups with liquid in them
  • Shredded Paper
  • Plastic garbage bags
  • TetraPaks
  • Items you CAN recycle in the blue recycling containers:
  • Newspaper and inserts
  • Magazines
  • Junk mail
  • Phone books
  • Cardboard and paperboard shipping boxes, cereal boxes, paper towel and toilet paper tubes
  • Shoe boxes
  • Office paper
  • Notebook paper
  • All plastics – number 1-7 (Check the recycling symbol and number on the container – no lids)
  • Plastic grocery bags
  • Aluminum beverage containers
  • Tin (steel) food cans
  • Wax coated milk and juice cartons (Please rinse)
