The Board hosted a discussion with The Club residents, local leaders, and law enforcement to discuss the growing concerns in our neighborhood.

Those in attendance:

  • Scott Howell—active Utah politician and former member of the Utah Senate
  • Major Jess Anderson—Utah Highway Patrol
  • Josh Sharman-- Deputy Chief of Salt Lake City Police
  • David Garbett—Executive Director of the Pioneer Park Coalition
  • Board members Jo Anne Hook, James Morgese, Nathan Peters
  • Club residents

The discussion was informative and productive. We began with residents expressing concerns and sharing recent neighborhood observations. Common points centered on the evolution of downtown since the closure of The Road Home near Gateway, concentration of low income housing near The Club, maintenance and integrity of nearby buildings, and other issues.

Our guests provided several resources to assist us in addressing our concerns, while also encouraging everyone to partner with city council, local representatives, and law enforcement in seeking improvements. Below are further details on those resources. The Board hopes to coordinate with residents to attend community council meetings and connect with our community leaders.

The Board received contact information for the CEO of Cowboy Partners, who own the property across the street east of The Club. We will be reaching out to him to connect on shared concerns.
